Love Wins by Rob Bell

progress: COMPLETE

Reading this book made me angry, sad, confused, overwhelmed and unsettled. I believe Rob Bell has made a mistake. Please read Kevin DeYoung’s book review blog explaining the errors that Bell has made. I encourage you to read both the book and the review. Happy reading!

The Worship Architect by Constance Cherry

progress: COMPLETE

I picked this book up from the Worship Symposium at Calvin College this past January. I am glad I was able to read through it. I look forward to working with a team of people someday and being able to discuss these principles in more detail. Great book for any worship leader looking to be able to better understand why we worship the way we do. A great conversation starter and exploration tool for ministry teams planning/leading worship services.

My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers

progress: IN-PROGRESS

I have finally been able to purchase this beautiful devotional! I am sure this will remain “In-progress” for the rest of my existence here on Earth. I am beginning in May, since it is when I received it. Look for “mini reviews” along the way in my personal devotional blog on this site. Happy Reading!

Ordering Your Private World by Gordon MacDonald

progress: COMPLETE

I nonchalantly picked this book up off my boyfriend’s shelf this morning. I am already in chapter 5! I wish I would’ve had this book back in December. This book along with the next book on my list as transformed the way I approach walking with the Lord. Spring Arbor University is quite the “bubble.” I am glad that the Lord still has me in the palm of his hand as I make the transition to the real world! This book is great for those of us who take too much on to our plates at once. By maintaining order in our personal lives and our own minds, we can have less stress, worry and heartache when we enter the outer world. The order and confidence we have in our private world with the Lord spills outward. Praise the LORD!

Prayer by Richard J. Foster

Progress: COMPLETE

This book has transformed the way I approach prayer. I am already putting the deeper perspectives into practice. Foster breaks prayer back down to its simple roots, and how beautiful they are! God just wants US. He just wants us to talk to him and with him. He doesn’t want an elaborate or flashy word play. He wants us to share our hearts with him, no matter how messy they are, because He wants to share His heart with us. How cool is that! WAY!

Hell by Francis

Progress: IN-PROGRESS

I read Love Wins by Rob Bell this past spring. I was very shaken and upset by the book. I saw a  video by Francis Chan. That prompted me to continue to keep this conversation alive in my continuing study of worship and ministry. Erasing Hell is a difficult book to read, but I’m working through it. I think its a must read for all believers because it establishes what the Word says about Hell, a topic we often avoid.
