(This post is retroblogged. I did not prioritize reading my Bible today and let the world keep me busy until the last minutes of the day. The reading was mostly accomplished, but I can’t react that quickly to the depth of todays lessons. This is what you get if you put life before God, so, really, here’s a real life example of what not to do. However, it is better to read late than not read the Bible at all. This is no excuse but an encouragement to those who are putting off God in their lives.)
Today’s reading included in Daniel 9-10 and 1 John 2:18-3:6 two end times prophecies, with similar messages to previously mentioned themes. So, I’ll focus in instead on a couple encouragements among the gloom regarding God’s character.
Daniel 9:9 says “But the Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him.” Isn’t it great to know that His character is forgiving despite our rebellion? I feel often, especially today as I throw this out to you later than should have occurred, that I am following my own ways and rebelling somewhat against God.
Psalms 121:7 says “The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.” Remember that His character does not change, and that you are being watched over, even when you are too busy to notice.
Sorry for the brevity, but there wasn’t much that stuck out to me today in these passages. We’ll see what happens next year at this time.
Blessings,
-Zachariah
