Dearest,
This is wonderful! You say that I have a gift with words, well I am beginning to think the Lord has blessed us both in this area. Let us not forget that everyday tasks, like caring for our bodies, cleaning houses, and taking out the trash can be glorifying to God. Its all about our focus, just as you have stated. We must be willing to give up our selfish desires, and allow the desires of the King to be our own. Beautifully written my love. Thank you for sharing!

@iNokulant,

Thanks for challenging my wording. Jesus isn't calling us out compared to specific belief systems, but rather because we are blending in with specific belief systems. The state religion of the Roman Empire, which was known as paganism, was the popular belief system of the time. Jesus' challenge was not against the pagans, but against Christians that one couldn't tell apart from any other belief system around them. It's not so much righteousness that gazes down, but discernment that stares within as we seek to distinguish ourselves and be an example of Christianity, distinct from other beliefs.

The calling does demand a response. Any venue of life that calls for a difference demands a response to that calling, whether in faith or vocation or creative necessity. Loving an enemy is only a small piece of the distinct Christian calling. But it is a piece not to be ignored. It needs to be responded to.

a challenge indeed, and if I may pose this quandary. What is so wrong with pagans?

Are we so righteous as to peer from out castle palaces gazing upon those below as commoners?

Others would rebuttal with "we are called to be different"

I would ask "what is your response?"

If there is a calling, shouldn't there be a response?
